Urology Centers of Alabama to open UCA Women’s Center

[Birmingham, AL, September 5, 2018] For over 60 years, the team of skilled urologists at Urology Centers of Alabama has provided high-quality, personalized medical care in their state-of-the-art facilities. Now, starting in September, UCA is proud to announce the opening of the UCA Women’s Center. The team, which includes board-certified urologists and urogynecologists Dr. Nicole Massie, Dr. Paula Rookis, and Dr. Ali Parden, provide a wide array of services specializing in the care of various female urological, sexual function, and pelvic floor conditions. The team also includes a nurse practitioner who carries 6 years of experience focusing on female health. All of the physicians are credentialed to operate at several hospitals in the area, including St. Vincent’s, Grandview, and Brookwood Baptist.

The UCA Women’s Center, located at 3125 Independence Drive in Homewood, will specialize in a variety of urological issues that are unique to women. These areas include, but are not limited to: pelvic pain, incontinence, vaginal disorders, and urinary tract infections. Dr. Massie, Dr. Parden, and Dr. Rookis bring decades of collective years of experience to the UCA Women’s Center to provide the level of care necessary to address the urological needs of female patients.

“UCA is excited to continue fulfilling its mission of providing state of the art patient centered urologic care throughout the southeast.  While we have always treated women, we are excited to now have a dedicated space with a full focus on Women’s urologic health.  We know this has been an underserved area in the past and are very excited to have three female physicians and a Nurse practitioner who will primarily focus on the urologic needs of our female patients, ” according to UCA Chief Executive Officer Jason Biddy.

“The UCA Women’s Center is the first of its kind in Birmingham that can diagnose, evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions that specifically affect women’s pelvic health,” according to UCA President Dr. Taylor Bragg. “It’s important to bring this level of attention, knowledge and expertise to the area. The physicians and team are excited about this expansion of services that will be specific to women’s urological needs.”
